my youngest son is now in college and while he has always had an extraordinary ability to call it like it is, he is now even more likely to mouth off.

he is honing his deductive reasoning and objective thinking skills very nicely and with his "don't give a shit attitude" when it comes to pointing out hypocrisy, well he is just a walking bs caller...especially around the jw's.. so we were talking this evening about some stuff that used to be taught in the hall back when i was a kid.

no college because young people would never grow old in this system.

My mom tried to tell me the $ociety never said it would "end" in 1975.

She said "I was there they never said the end would come then, they just precluded that something would happen in 1975."

I kept quiet because I had just called her out on something else and didn't wan to push my luck, but REALLY!?!?!?!? If she was there, where was she? Obviously not listening or paying attention, HOLY CRAP! You can look back on the CDrom and find this stuff out straight from them.

Oh how I wish I could I have said "that's not true, they did say it would end and even if they didn't NOTHING HAPPENED, so even their speculation was wrong!"

a tv station in cleveland is covering a corruption trial in federal court, where cameras aren't allowed.

their solution is to have the transcript testimony read by puppets - including info about hookers, stds and bleeped words.

i understand their ratings are doing well.

@leavingwt: Don't forget about the theory of law of attraction. If you concentrate on something long enough and hard enough YOU can make it happen; this can work in both positive and negative formats.

Prayer can also be likened to deep meditation or a trance-like state in which your conscience alters your sub-conscience. When you pray you are so absorbed that it does alter your thoughts and then your actions follow; essentially you change yourself.

I’m not talking about some spritistic new age crap. I’m saying if your life is centrally focused on one thing, it usually materializes because your thoughts and actions align, then you make it happen whether you are conscious of it or not.

heres something i love to tell jw which nearly always stuns them.. nobody would buy a car called the satan, or if its logo was phallic, or was named after baal, but the facts are nearly all three of these are present in a vast majority of todays cars.

as one can examine there are a lot of things present that a good xians should avoid.

in many cases there are puns on names, but still.. toyota.

Emotional blackmail

if you have the watchtower cd-rom, try this.. do a 'sentence scope' search for the words 'your life', then look at the results under 'books'.

i was surprised at how much emotional blackmail as well as veiled threats seem to be in some of the books, even towards your children only surviving into the paradise if you do what jehovah (they) say/s, as in indoctrinate them in the truth.. never noticed this before..

They basically say: "Anything but absolute servitude is unacceptable, therefore just give in and become a full time bible thumping magazine pushing recruiter, I mean pious-sneer. Oh and forget about an education, food, clothing housing or money; the gobbling body-snatchers know you need these, we just don’t care. So now we'll ask (repeatedly until you give in/up) because we love you, what are you going to do with your life you insignificant pile of crap?"

What is REALLY wrong with EDUCATION?

as a child we do what our parents tell us to do.

or, we are disciplined.

we learn to see the world a "certain" way.

Schooling is eeeevil cause it opens a whole up "other world" and it also teaches real truths, we can't have that!

This is what I imagine the conversation to be when the gobbling body-snatchers discuss education.

I wonder how many witless parents would put their children through any kind of educational programs if the government of their residing countries didn't have laws for just such a thing?

it is true no one does even now that i am 40 years old.. why do we come forward at all?

An elder’s son molested a family member when she was young; she never came forward because she was too afraid, she knew how others who came forward were treated. The elders were fully aware of what was going on too, but his father was the PO so it got covered up pretty nicely; the perpetrator was even appointed as a ministerial servant.

The man in question went on molesting many girls in the congregation without any form of “inside discipline”. He was finally caught and put in jail and only disfellowshipped because the congregation started getting flack in the local media, so they tried to cover their buts by saying “oh no we don’t have anything to do with him”.

All the while this poor victim watched and lived with the horror; how she still remains a witness to this day completely blows my mind. It just shows you how tight of a grasp they have on the weaker rank and file.
